Exercise 4.3

You should find that the past tense endings are all made by adding 'd' or 'ed' (with other changes such as doubling of the 'm' in thrim), but would differ in their pronunciation, as shown below, where the endings are written out in phonetic symbols in the first row, with the words grouped according to which ending they would get. Similar principles apply to those in Exercise 4.2, except the "exceptions" in the third column are now those that end in /t/ or /d/ (i.e. the same sounds as the endings in the first two columns, just as in Exercise 4.2).
